Fennel
(Foeniculum Vulgare)
What is it?
While the root is eaten as a vegetable, it is the seeds which are used medicinally. Fennel has anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects. It also acts as a digestive aid and increases milk flow in breastfeeding women.
What it does in the body
Fennel can be used to treat respiratory infections and digestive problems such as gas and bloating. It can be used externally as a gargle and as an eyewash to treat eye infections.
