Alfalfa

What is it?
Alfalfa has a powerful reputation as a healing herb. It is a healthy and nutritious source of chlorophyll, beta carotene, calcium, and the vitamins D, E and K. Alfalfa has laxative, diuretic and antiseptic effects. It also has a reputation as a detoxifier, able to improve liver function and cleanse the blood.
What it does in the body
Alfalfa may be helpful in the treatment of urinary tract infections, and kidney, bladder and prostrate disorders. It is also often recommended for bone and joint disorders, digestive problems, skin disorders and ulcers.
Cautions
Anyone with the disease systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) should avoid alfalfa products.
